About Us
Rooted in the Land
Mêl Llŷn is rooted in the Llŷn Peninsula, where generations of farming have shaped both the landscape and the people who work it. The business grew from a small collection of hives first kept at Eisteddfa Farm in 2016, gradually developing into a thriving apiary through dedication, learning, and a deep connection to the countryside.
From Smallholding to Bee Farm
As the number of hives grew, so did the ambition. Julie Davies — a Chartered Manager with a background in strategic procurement, business ownership, and Welsh enterprise — played a key role in shaping the business into a commercial venture. Securing support through the Arfor scheme allowed the apiary to expand, diversify, and establish itself as a producer of premium Welsh honey and handcrafted beeswax products.
A New Generation
Today, Davies a’i Gwmni Cyf (trading as Mêl Llŷn) blends Welsh knowledge, sustainable beekeeping, and modern business practice to produce raw artisan honey, and beeswax gifts from the heart of North Wales. With new products on the horizon — including honey marmalade and handcrafted mead — the business continues to grow with creativity and care.
The next generation is already getting involved, helping at events and pop‑up stands and learning the craft that underpins the business.
